Adolescent Programs

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the trainer that will be running the AMI adolescent training?

Tina Booth has worked in Montessori adolescent communities since 2001. She has worked as a humanities and ethics teacher in private and public Montessori schools. She holds the AMI Elementary diploma from Bergamo, the NAMTA Orientation to Adolescent Studies certificate, a BA in archaeological studies from Boston University, and an MA in anthropology from Northern Arizona University. She has acted as Orientation Leader, advisor, and lecturer for the Orientations in Ohio, California, and Colorado. She is interested in digital humanities, and is committed to better understanding issues of equity, inclusion, accessibility, and methods of building resiliency for both children and teachers in Montessori environments

What is the difference between the Orientation to 12-18, and the Adolescent Diploma Course?

The AMI 12-18 diploma course led in different formats by AMI Adolescent Montessori trainers. This rigorous, theory-intensive course prepares practitioners to work with adolescents (12-18 years) within a framework based on Dr. Montessori’s research.  Upon completion, you will receive an AMI diploma recognized globally.

The Orientation 12-18 is a 25 hour overview of foundational Montessori theory and methodology for working with adolescents. It is not a substitute for the full diploma course, instead it provides a general understanding of the work of the 3rd plane. The intention is for the Orientation 12-18 to be held in communities with less access to and/or less immediate need for the AMI 12 - 18 Diploma course.

How do I request a workshop for my local Montessori community?

Your Montessori community will surely thank you for bringing this much-needed information to the local community! To take the next step on hosting, fill out the partner survey and we will be in touch.

Which Adolescent program would be the right choice for me?

All programs will benefit the community that you are serving, and each program will allow for participants to decide on how immersed they would like to be with Montessori theory and application into their own environment.

Train Montessori provides an enriching series of adolescent workshops led by a very talented AMI Adolescent Director of Training. Each workshop caters to the variety of needs found in adolescent programs and has direct practical application for programs across the globe. Each program is uniquely different and it is our hope that a mix of workshops will fit your short and long-term needs and goals.
